Kylo Ren wrestles with his identity and proposes Rey abandon everything together. The movie presents Snoke's death at Kylo Ren's hands. The battle on Crait's salt flats with Holdo's sacrifice is one of the most visually impactful. It deeply divided audiences but expanded the Force mythology.

Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019) directed by J.J. Abrams is the ninth and final film in the Skywalker saga. The story follows Rey as she attempts to stop the First Order and discovers the truth about her ancestry: she is the granddaughter of Emperor Palpatine. Palpatine, thought dead, has been manipulating events from the shadows building an army of star destroyers on Exegol. The central theme explores how we define our legacy: are we defined by our blood or by our choices? The final battle on Exegol reunites characters from the entire saga. Ben Solo/Kylo Ren's sacrifice, redeeming himself by giving his life to save Rey, provides the complete narrative circle that began with Anakin Skywalker over 40 years ago. Carrie Fisher appears using archive footage.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015) is the seventh film, directed by J.J. Abrams. The story takes place 30 years after Return of the Jedi with the Empire defeated but a new threat emerges: the First Order led by Snoke and his knight Kylo Ren. Luke Skywalker has mysteriously disappeared leaving only a map to his location. The protagonist Rey, a scavenger on Jakku, discovers the map and becomes embroiled in the fight between the Resistance led by Leia Organa and the First Order. Along with defect stormtrooper Finn and pilot Poe Dameron, Rey discovers her connections with the Force. The movie combines nostalgia with renewal bringing back Han Solo, Leia and Chewbacca while presenting new heroes. With a $245-300 million budget, it grossed $2,071 million.
