Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015) is the seventh film, directed by J.J. Abrams. The story takes place 30 years after Return of the Jedi with the Empire defeated but a new threat emerges: the First Order led by Snoke and his knight Kylo Ren. Luke Skywalker has mysteriously disappeared leaving only a map to his location. The protagonist Rey, a scavenger on Jakku, discovers the map and becomes embroiled in the fight between the Resistance led by Leia Organa and the First Order. Along with defect stormtrooper Finn and pilot Poe Dameron, Rey discovers her connections with the Force. The movie combines nostalgia with renewal bringing back Han Solo, Leia and Chewbacca while presenting new heroes. With a $245-300 million budget, it grossed $2,071 million.
